Amish Country Video from Hawthorn Inn & Suites

We just received a beautifully-done video on Lancaster County’s Amish Country courtesy of the Hawthorn Inn & Suites in Lancaster. It has some beautiful images of Lancaster County.

Hawthorn features efficiency kitchenettes and suites. They offer their guests a complimentary hot breakfast buffet, separate modem line & voice mail, extended cable television, a movie channel, on-site laundry as well as laundry valet service, and a fitness center.  They also have some rooms available for the physically challenged.

Their mission is to advance the Kingdom of God through the Gospel of Jesus Christ by providing rescue and renewal services in the City and County of Lancaster and other areas. They strive to meet the many needs of the hungry and homeless in Lancaster County by offering a variety of services that provide structure, stability, security, self-discipline, and hope.

He’s Back! – Thomas the Tank Engine Returns to Strasburg

Thomas the Tank Engine in StrasburgThomas the Tank Engine™ will be returning to Lancaster County, PA November 18-20, 2011.  The full-sized operating steam locomotive will be at the Strasburg Rail Road to greet his friends. Children and their families can take a 20-minute ride through Lancaster County’s Amish farmlands on a train pulled by Thomas himself. It’s an exciting adventure for kids of all ages.

This will be Thomas’ third visit to Lancaster County this year.  The dates again are November 18th – 20th, with trains leaving the station regularly each morning through early afternoon.  Check online for the time schedule. Man v. Food Visits Lancaster County

One of the Travel Channel’s most popular shows is Man v. Food Nation, a weekly program where host Adam Richman travels the country competing in American food challenges.

This Wednesday, November 16, the show will air footage from their recent visit to the Plain and Family Farm Restaurant in Bird-in-Hand, Lancaster County, PA, as part of the show’s Holiday Feast episode.

Wednesday’s episode of Man v. Food Nation will be more of a cultural experience than what is usually depicted in the show.  It will include an Amish buggy ride, a tour of the gardens, and will show Adam in the kitchen cooking local favorites, such as chicken pot pie.

Plain & Fancy Farm is home to Lancaster County’s original Amish Farm Feast, and has been serving fresh-from-the-farm meals since 1959. Plain and Fancy is located on nine acres between Bird-in-Hand and Intercourse, PA, and is surrounded by Amish Country farmlands.

The show is scheduled to air November 16th at 9:00 pm EST on the Travel Channel.
